Many of us find it hard to at least have a walk on a daily basis unless forced by circumstances to do so. Some of us love to actually walk and take regularly walks on a daily basis. We all at least fall in either of this categories but whether we are forced to walk by circumstances or whether we walk for fun, we all at least get to do some walking. It’s advised to make sure you walk for 2 ½ hours in a week. Walking is good, as it keeps you fit, improves your circulation and it’s an easy way to manage your weight, with no difficulty at all.
For those with GPS (Global Positioning System) enabled phones there are applications that makes it easy to track your walks. My Personal favorite is Runtastic Pro. The app measures the distance you take, the average speed you take, the time you take, the average time you take, the average distance you make per minute and it also roughly gives the calories burnt. This app also measures the change in height, to its greatest accuracy.
GPS technology has made it easier for us to get around places. This application employs this technology and hence gives you data to the greatest accuracy possible. This is what the vehicles use to give directions. This app is not like the apps which calculate data based on motion of the device but calculates data based on the GPS technology. I have used this app personally when walking on flat land, walking on a hill and it gave accurate data.
This app also has an added additional feature which just amazed me. Once you have recorded your journey this app gives you the ability to view your journey on google earth step by step showing where you passed through satellite imagery. You actually see the exact place you passed through… It’s just amazing and encourages you to keep walking. The app that does this is called Runstatic Pro.
An app I used for some time before discovering Runtatic pro was Run Keeper. Run keeper opened my eyes to the wonders of GPS technology at its simplest level. This app is equally as good. It has its own exercise program that you can enable for free and follow the daily basis depending on whether you want to lose weight, keep fit or just have fun all together.
This apps are good and are a must have, they actually encourage you to do exercise, Runtatic pro encourages me.
Runkeeper and Runtastic available in their pro versions which has more functionality than their light versions.
